Compound Reverie Grants

Tech, Research, Creativemicrogrant

Program overview

Quick Facts

  • ·Type: Non-dilutive micro-grant ($500-$7,500)
  • ·Eligibility: Global applications welcome
  • ·Process: Rolling applications
  • ·Contact: grants@compound.vc

Mission

Compound Reverie Grants fund people exploring ideas at the edges—work that otherwise would not easily get funded through traditional means, but that Compound VC thinks is important for the present and future. These are fully non-dilutive, no-strings-attached grants.

The world needs more out-of-distribution ideas and people need more space to explore them. Tech has grown insular, and dollars and belief flow to the most legible people. The less legible get passed over. Reverie Grants aim to change that by supporting strange and meaningful work.

What Compound Reverie Funds

Type 1: Edge Explorers

People going deep on something that touches the edges or possible fringes of:

  • ·Machine learning
  • ·Robotics
  • ·Biology
  • ·Healthcare
  • ·Energy
  • ·Crypto
  • ·Where these areas blur together

These should NOT be ideas that obviously could be venture-backed companies. Instead, you should be:

  • ·Working on research
  • ·Building a prototype
  • ·Writing
  • ·Open-sourcing something
  • ·Tinkering on a strange project that resists easy explanation

Type 2: Thoughtful Transitions

People who are simply in transition and figuring things out. You might not have a thesis-aligned project, but you have:

  • ·A goal or direction
  • ·Something you're trying to understand or become
  • ·A need for support, a sounding board, or a broader network

Application Guide

  5. 05How you heard about the program

Tips for Applicants

  • ·Be authentic about your unconventional path
  • ·Don't try to fit a venture-backed company mold
  • ·Explain what makes your work strange or meaningful
  • ·Be specific about what the grant would enable

Why This Grant Exists

There are moments in life when a small amount of support—intellectual, emotional, and/or fiscal—matters more than anyone appreciates at the time:

  • ·A month or two of runway
  • ·The cost of materials for a prototype
  • ·Enough breathing room to see if something is real

Compound hopes these grants find people in those moments.

Additional Information
